Subject: SBIR/STTR Reauthorization
Reference: Senate Bill S.1233
Dear Senator <Last Name>:
Your urgent attention is needed regarding support for legislation introduced June 19th for the reauthorization of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.
The Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) Committee unanimously passed Senate Bill S.1233 to the full Senate for consideration. This Bill is acceptable to all parties in what has been a very contentious process extending for over a year. It is very important that S.1233 be approved by the Senate as soon as possible with wide bi-partisan support.
I URGE YOU TO PLEASE CO-SPONSOR SENATE BILL S.1233.
This Bill is important for ensuring a continuation of the flow of Federal R&D dollars to the State of Texas for small business innovation. Many Texas small businesses depend on SBIR and STTR as an essential source of seed funding for enabling the development of innovative and highly sought technologies as well as the creation of jobs.
The Texas Emerging Technology Fund recognizes the value of SBIR and STTR by offering matching fund opportunities that draw our Texas Institutes of Higher Education into partnerships with our small businesses – a synergy that enhances Texas’ stature as a center for innovation.
Please contact SBE Chairwoman Landrieu’s office today to add your name to the growing list of this Bill’s co-sponsors.
In illustration of the broad support S.1233 enjoys, a copy of an article that appeared in GenomeWeb News is attached.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your attention and support.
Respectfully,
